Krups KB720: the blender quiets down
Do you dive for your Bose noise-canceling headphones every time someone in your house switches on the kitchen blender? Don't turn to accessories to solve this deafening problem — industrial designer Konstantin Grcic built a blender with librarians like you in mind. Called the "quietest blender on the market" by New York magazine, the Krups KB720 promises to purée, mix, and crush your edibles without waking up baby. For the controls, Grcic says he was inspired by the button layout on a BlackBerry. Hmm… where's the Qwerty keyboard, Konstantin? Well, at least he didn't scrimp on the parts, making the body out of die-cast aluminum and the extra-large (60-ounce) jar out of glass — no cheap plastic here. The Krups site says the suggested retail price for this hush-hush kitchen appliance is $190, but you can preorder yours from Unicahome right now for $150. We'll take two.
