If you want a taste of Microsoft's new operating system, the oft-delayed Windows Vista, you can download a not-ready-for-prime-time beta version of the software. Don't be too quick to try to install it on your home computer, however, as the nice folks at MSNBC gave it a test drive and don't have too many nice things to say about it. Says Gary Krakow: "Installing Vista Beta 2, for me was one of the worst operating system experiences that I've ever encountered." Of course, as it's a beta release, quirks are expected, but such news doesn't bode well for Microsoft, who has pushed back release of the OS multiple times to a current projection of January 2007, with further delays rumored. We will of course keep you updated as Vista crawls its way to a public release.
