TiVo and DirecTV have extended their relationship for three more years. The new deal means current DirecTV customers can keep using their TiVo service at least until 2009; before the deal, service contracts were due to expire in about a year. The two companies have a somewhat rocky history involving intellectual property and lawsuits.… Google released Google Calendar today, the newest addition to its bevy of online services. The new service is, not surprisingly, a calendar and scheduling program that integrates tightly into Gmail, Google's Web-based e-mail service. Features include an Evite-like invitation system and the ability to send event reminders to your cell phone.… Songs from the Beatles will soon be available for download through pay-per-song services, although there's no word as to which service(s) will be used. Apple Records is currently in the process of remastering the songs and preparing digital information "booklets" to accompany the downloads. The label confirmed their plans for the releases last week, ironically during the Apple Corps versus Apple Computer trial in the U.K. High Court.
