Your TV won't shut off? Sony's on it…
Are you getting all red and sweaty because your Sony LCD TV is playing dumb? You're not alone some 400,000 Bravia and Grand Wega TVs are ignoring on/off commands. The software flaw kicks in after 1,200 hours of use, but at least it poses no safety risk. And the fix is simple: just unplug the power cord, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. That should reset the TV and make the problem go away for another 1,200 hours (a few months of typical use). Resetting the TV will give you time to order the update kit (if you have a Bravia LCD panel) or call a service person (if you have a Grand Wega LCD rear-projector). Either way there's no charge. The affected models are the Bravia KDL-V40XBR1, -V32XBR1, and -V26XBR1 and the Grand Wega KDF-E42A10 and -E50A10. For more details see www.updatemytv.com. Sony has taken a bashing lately on PC security issues, but the company is developing a talent for admitting and correcting problems.
