Unleash the dinobots! Ugobe's Pleo stomps in
A new breed of robot dinosaur will soon be on the march. Pleo, made by Ugobe (you-goh-bee), is a toy robot modeled after a 1-week-old camarasaurus (think brontosaurus). Unlike Wow Wee's popular Roboraptor, Pleo is totally autonomous there's no remote control. As you interact with the little guy over time, his "behavioral platform" software is said to evolve to make him a better match for you. Pleo will also have textured skin (Wow Wee's toys look like robots) and boasts the technical sophistication of 14 servos, 38 sensors, and 17 distinct moods. The company expects to have it in stores this fall for about $200. Interesting choice going with a super-cute herbivore it's no doubt a stab at appealing to both girls and boys, but if Pleo ends up being half as cool as Ugobe is saying, I can't wait to see the baby T-Rex version.
