Root canal, cavity, abscessed tooth none of the buzzwords associated with tooth pain insinuate a good time. Well, Israeli company Fluorinex Active is hoping to rid your vernacular of these terrible terms. By combining a fluoride-based gel and a small electrical current, they intend to produce a new mineral layer around your teeth, offering improved defense against bacteria. The resulting protective layer will last for five years, says the company. But don't compose a toothbrush dirge just yet: Fluorinex's high-tech tooth armor won't be ready for at least a year and a half.
