Pay By Touch believes fingertip scanners are the key to quelling online security concerns. In their vision, future computers will include fingertip scanners so online shoppers can identify themselves and pay for an item without making themselves vulnerable to identity theft by submitting credit-card information. The company's biometric technologies already appear in several supermarket chains like Piggly Wiggly and Albertsons. It's an attractive idea, but just wait 'till a miscreant rents a copy of Diamonds Are Forever, follows Bond's lessons on fingerprint fraud, and robs us all blind.
