It's hard to believe it, but it's been 15 years since LEGO started releasing official Star Wars sets. Hundreds of sets later, and the partnership is stronger than ever. To commemorate the 15th anniversary, LEGO is releasing 25 sets that span the entire Star Wars series, from the movie trilogies to the TV shows The Yoda Chronicles to The Clone Wars to the new upcoming series Rebels.
At the 2014 New York Toy Fair, we got a preview of what's in store for the year, and we can wholeheartedly say LEGO's new sets are impressive. Our two favorite sets are easily the two largest ones with the most pieces: the 1,337-piece AT-AT ($110/August) and the 1,359-piece Imperial Star Destroyer ($130/August). While neither can compare with the 5,000-piece Millennium Falcon or the insane fan creations that occasionally pop up on the Internet, these two behemoths are still pretty awesome. The fact that they're dioramas that open up only makes them better.
If you live in a small apartment (like I do), then LEGO's miniature X-Wing, Millennium Falcon, Star Destroyer sets (to name a few) are just too adorable (and they are absolutely adorable) to not want.
We've got a massive gallery of the new LEGO Star Wars sets below, but stick with it to the end and we promise you'll get a good chuckle at what LEGO is planning for Darth Vader and company.
