If you're in the market for a gaming laptop but you'd rather not get stuck lugging around some ten pound monster as thick as a George R. R. Martin novel, then a new gaming laptop from the equally new Aorus Ltd. just might be your dream come true. Unveiled at CES 2014 this week, the X7 gaming laptop is a sleek, thin 17-inch gaming rig that doesn't disappoint, no matter how you look at it.
Weighing in at just over six pounds, the X7 is in a weight class usually populated by mid-range workstations and chihuahuas. Closed, it stands under an inch tall, but don't let its slender lines fool you: this is a serious gaming machine. At the X7's heart lies a shiny new Intel Haswell i7 processor, along with two (two!) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M GDDR5 4GB graphics cards. These twin cards allow the X7 to perform just as well in 3D graphics benchmarks as top-tier gaming setups powered by the newer GeForce GTX 780M.
On top of its impressive graphics hardware, the X7 can be configured with not one but two 512GB solid state drives and a 1TB hard drive, simultaneously giving you blisteringly fast load times and a massive amount of storage space. As for memory, the X7 can be outfitted with up to 32GB of DDR3 RAM. Five USB ports, HDMI and Bluetooth 4.0 are all included, and you can choose between Windows 7 and 8.1 for your OS.
