2014 may not seem like the future anymore, but it's going to be the very first year that humanity will have deployed a commercial sub-orbital transportation system, which is a pretty darn futuristic thing to have going on. To meet that 2014 target, Virgin Galactic has been continuing to test their SpaceShipTwo rocket-powered spaceplane from Spaceport America (we have one of those!) in the Mojave desert. This most recent test was the third time SS2 has gone powered supersonic, and everything went flawlessly, with the spacecraft reaching 71,000 feet at Mach 1.4, the highest it's ever been. We've got four minutes of video highlights for you below, and it's definitely worth a watch.
