Gold iPad Mini with Retina display leaks out with Touch ID in tow

It's clearly time for gold gadgets to shine — well, at least Apple seems to think so. New photos have surfaced of an alleged "gold" iPad mini that features the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor currently implemented on the iPhone 5s. The new second-gen iPad mini will reportedly feature a Retina display, to be released at a media event sometime next month or so.

Two photos appeared on Chinese website Zol showing off the bottom portion of the next gen iPad mini, revealing a metal-ringed home button just like the one on the new iPhone 5s. The second photo is taken from the rear of the device, where a champagne-gold tone outer aluminum shell can be seen, like the gold iPhone 5s.

The photos have questionable legitimacy though, as it shows off a fully-finished and assembled gold iPad mini. In the past, only pictures of certain parts have been leaked, which signal that these may very likely be just high-quality renderings.

These photos follow the debut of ones depicting Apple's new "Space Gray" color iPad mini, which surfaced last week.

The new iPad mini will reportedly not be shipping at the same time as the fifth-gen iPad according to MacRumors. Guess Golden Delicious lovers will just have to wait!
