Image of the Day: Australian air gardens

Tillandsias are a genus of bromeliads that don't require water to grow. They absorb all of the nutrients and moisture that they need through the air, meaning that you can hoist them up above the Earth and they will grow there quite happily. These gardens are suspended from wires around the city of Melbourne, where they'll remain until the end of the year, requiring no more care than an occasional pruning to preserve their shape.
