Image of the Day: 3D-printed spare ears

Hangzhou Dianzi University in China has developed a special kind of 3D printer that uses living tissue. The ears that you're looking at in this picture are technically alive, made out of layers and layers of living cells. This doesn't make them functional ears, of course, but the level of detail is impressive (even if they're a little bit small), and they may eventually be suitable as aesthetic replacements that your body will be able to maintain on its own. And now we're going to end this post without making a single Van Gogh joke.
