Zaha Hadid is a designer who creates awesome otherworldly buildings — the kinda stuff that's way ahead of the curve and hugely popular among fans of modern architecture and science fiction. So it was only a matter of time before she began dabbling in fashion as well. Okay, she's been involved in the fashion world for awhile now, but this is a new one even for her. It's also on a much smaller scale than usual: shoes.
Hadid teamed up with United Nude's Rem D. Koolhaas to design the NOVA shoe, a 6.25 inch platform wonder made out of vinyl, rubber, fiberglass and leather. Only about 100 NOVA's will be made and the price for this attention-grabbing cantilevered high heel is about $2,000.
Here's Koolhaas on creating the limited edition design alongside Hadid:
"Zaha consistently reinvents the program with her own ideas and interpretations. Her visionary creations are often unexpected, yet reinforce their origins. I could not resist the challenge to work with Zaha. We gave ourselves the greatest degree of experimentation and used the latest digital design and manufacturing technologies to create one of the most innovative shoes ever produced."
We wholeheartedly agree on the innovative part, but can anyone actually walk in these things?
