Omni virtual reality movement system decimates crowdfunding goal

The Virtuix Omni has been in the news for a while now, promising anyone who wants one a physically-interactive VR experience with the ability to walk, run, jump, and crouch all in one spot in your living room. And while that promise and the evidence to back it up have both been around lo these many months, the project's Kickstarter has not.

You wouldn't know that to look at the campaign's progress, though. In less than 24 hours, the Omni has raised well over half a million bucks — utterly shattering its (apparently quite modest) $150,000 goal. With 47 more days to go, this could still only be the tip of the funding iceberg for the Omni.

So, we know that the Omni will definitely become a reality and just might help reshape gaming as we know it, but is it worth the hype? Does it really work? And most importantly, should you pay several hundred bucks for one? We've got some hands-on time scheduled with an Omni at E3 next week, and we'll be letting you know just how it feels to step into the games and worlds you love.
