Up in the sky — it's a bird, it's a plane, it's a beer drone?

Ahead of the Oppikoppi music festival in South Africa, organizers are planning to quench music fans' thirst with none other than a beer drone. After concertgoers order their beers through an iOS app, an outfitted SteadiDrone will deliver them, air dropping the cold cans with a parachute so they slowly float down to the ground.

The video below shows the beer drone in action (bonus: shots from the beer's perspective).

Currently, the drone is hand guided and will make deliveries only to the District 9 campsite, but festival organizers are hoping for the aircraft to pilot itself following a GPS grid. The Oppikoppi festival will take place Auguest 8 to 10.

If only this beer drone would work in tandem with the Tacocopter, which delivers taco orders via a fleet of drone helicopters — then we can have a rockin' party started. For now, we'll just have to order drinks the old-fashioned way: yelling belligerantly at bartenders until they give us what we want.
