Two-year-old Hannah Warren was born without a trachea and has been living in a South Korean ICU since her birth. The condition requires her to be connected to a breathing tube at all times.
However, young Hannah recently underwent a nine-hour surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois to get a bioengineered windpipe. Dr. Mark Holterman, a pediatric surgeon at the Peoria, IL hospital spoke about the toddler's recovery: “She’s doing well. She had some complications from the surgery, but the trachea itself is doing great.”
