Jakob Wagner is a photographer based in Germany whose portfolio is as eclectic as it is universally intriguing. Here's a series Wagner shot this year in Shanghai that make such wonderful use of color, light and speed that we feel like we're right there with him.
The images were taken from inside Shanghai's well-known Bund Sightseeing Tunnel. Those who have experienced the tunnel firsthand know that it involves a lot of strange props with sudden, dramatic changes in lighting. It also serves a practical purpose, despite all that randomness. Stripped down, it's really just a regular subway tunnel that gets passengers from Puxi to Pudong in five minutes.
Wagner manages to make the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel look pretty classy, albeit super trippy. Click through the gallery below to feel transported to another dimension, or just an oft traveled subway tunnel for you stalwart Pudong commuters.
