Toyota unveils tiny i-ROAD concept vehicle

While other carmakers are busy unveiling high-end supercars and regal luxury sedans ahead of the Geneva Motor Show , Toyota is going in another direction. Meet the i-ROAD — Toyota's brand new electric commuter-tricycle. Concept videos depict the i-ROAD as some sort of combination of Tron's light cycles and a fun around-town vehicle, if that's something you can imagine.

Now, the lightcycle angle is a tantalizing one — but maybe that dream is better left for more powerful vehicles like the C-1. Toyota's i-ROAD, at least at this stage, would need a lot of help to generate streaks of visible light. That's because this little electric trike maxes out at just under 30 MPH. Its also thought to have a range of just about 30 miles, making even the "around town" utility of the vehicle questionable. Still, with its front wheels that lean into turns and a sleek exterior, the i-ROAD has potential. And with the Geneva Motor Show only three days away, there's also some potential for us to learn much more about this cute little concept very soon.
