The New York International Auto Show kicks off today, but like the last handful of years, the show has slowly gotten overshadowed by the growing number of international motor shows. In fact, the Seoul Motor Show opens today in South Korea, too. See what I mean?
But fret not! While there weren't any futuristic-looking concept cars (designers seem to be playing it safe these days), we did spy a quartet of geeky-kitted out superhero cars from Kia on both floors of the Jacob Javits Convention center.
On show were a Superman Optima Hybrid, Wonder Woman Sportage, Green Lantern Soul and a Batman Optima. Each car comes with its own custom paint job and trims that reflect the hero's costume or style.
The superhero-themed vehicles are part of a partnership between Kia and DC Entertainment called "We Can Be Heroes." Each car took over 40 hours to create, and included input from DC Entertainment co-publisher Jim Lee.
Although our gal only has the four we saw at the NY Auto Show, Kia apparently also has cars tricked out for The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman. If only the company had brought them all together for a real Justice League family pic. That would have been geeky as hell, but a comic book fan's nirvana. Maybe for the San Diego or New York Comic Con?
