Image of the Day: D.C. subway turns 37 today

The Washington D.C. Metro subway opened on March 27, 1976. Although there were only 4.6 miles of track back then, the futuristic and very clean D.C. rail system has changed a lot over 37 years. Now it has five different lines covering 106.3 miles for commuters.

The Washington Post has a fascinating slideshow highlighting the ups and downs of the D.C. subway. It's worth taking a look, if you're at all interested in subways.
