Speed of Light is an event kicking off tonight in Manchester, England at 8 p.m. local time. More than 400 joggers will put on high-tech LED suits and run around Salford Quays, Greater Manchester's majestic waterfront area. This performance unites culture, technology and sports and seeks to draw attention to the urban landscape.

According to Speed of Light's website, the public performance is:

“A procession of people, forsaking dreams of athletic heroism, committed instead to choreographed, communal movement. The combined effect of this kinetic energy is sensational; runners lending their honest toil to create a strange new geometry across the cityscape.”

Not around to see the human fireflies? Speed of Light runs until Saturday evening.
