To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Transformers, Hasbro is releasing a mega-sized Metroplex — the largest convertible Transformer toy ever created. At two feet tall, the "Titan-class" Metroplex dwarfs all other Transformers toys. It's so tall that Hasbro actually needed to use an acrylic stand to keep it from falling over. (The final toy should be stronger.)
Whereas most Transformers toys have two modes (robot and vehicle mode), Metroplex has three: robot, vehicle and city mode. Robot mode is pretty self-explanatory, vehicle mode converts into a rolling battle platform and city mode turns into Autobot city. Why a city? Because Metroplex is actually the living embodiment of Autobot city.
But the real excitement lies in Metroplex's details. Along with the usual lights, sounds and various compartments that open, it also has articulated pupils. How intricate is that? For collectors, the box itself even comes with illustrations to display it vertically and horizontally. Available in the fall, this hefty toy comes with a hefty price: $124.99.
It's going to be a long wait, so do yourself and favor and check out our Metroplex close-ups in the gallery below.
