Cells are our friends, because without them, we'd all fall apart into puddles of mostly water. In this picture, you're looking at the nucleous of a cultured kidney cell inside a tangle of microtubles made out of proteins. The protein filaments help the cell to take care of business, including things like cell division and cell locomotion (in case the cell wants to go on vacation or something).
